Objects left on a table hint at a life that came before and suggest what comes next. They form the negative space in my life and fill up the periphery. I incorporate references to music, television, and digital media into my work alongside bits of landscape and found, collected, and made objects. The references, text, and bodies in my compositions are fragmented and incomplete. Focal points get lost. I flatten perspective and hierarchies between subjects in order to reinterpret the familiar. The exterior world exists alongside the interior. I navel gaze, contemplate relationships, personal history, popular media, hierarchies of genre, mimicry, and control. I draw, paint, and make objects.
